SALIHUNDAM

Located on the bank of river Vamsadhara, Salihundam is a village in Gara Mandal of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. This small village has a great historical Budhist site on a hillock. This site was aged back to 2nd century BC. From here Budhism was spreaded to overseas like sumitra islands. 



There is a museum on the hillock where you can find a number of statues which were found during excavations.

SRI SURYANARAYANA SWAMI TEMPLE, ARASAVALLI

LORD SURYANARAYANA SWAMY (SUN GOD) temple was built by Kalinga king Devendravarma during 7th century according to stone inscriptions. This temple was built in such a way that annually 2 times the sunrays touches the idol feet for few minutes during March and October. Special prayers will be performed during february on Radhasaptami.

Arasavalli, once known as Harshavalli is situated at about a kilometer distance to Srikakulam and about 100Km from Visakhapatnam.

PROLOGUE
